DESCRIPTION
PARAMETERS
FEATURE
Pack of 100 capillary tubes (open at both ends) and two power cords with UK and "Schuko" plug.
Take melting point measurements of up to three samples at once for greater efficiency. Easy-to-follow instructions are printed directly on the unit. Place your sample in a capillary tube and insert it into the aluminum block. Manually set the heating rate between 1°C and 20°C per minute, up to a maximum of 250°C. Lowering the heating rate as you near the expected melting point temperature will increase the accuracy of the reading. Observe the sample through the magnifying lens until the melt occurs and read the melt temperature from the thermometer.
Apparatus is supplied with open-ended capillary tubes. One end should be sealed with a Bunsen burner; or purchase optional capillary tubes separately that are already sealed. Order the optional brass cooling plug to speed up cooling when multiple runs are needed.
Please Note: Effective June 2022, the Stuart Analog Melting Point Apparatus Model number SMP11 has now been rebranded Cole-Parmer under Model number MP-100. All the same great features and specifications, just with a new and improved look.
The Cole-Parmer MP-100 Analog Melting Point Apparatus (formerly Stuart SMP11) is a reliable benchtop instrument for manual melting point determination of crystalline organic substances. This analog model adopts an aluminum heating block and accommodates up to three capillary samples for parallel testing. Operators manually adjust heating rate from 1–20°C/min to achieve precise measurement; slow heating near the expected melting temperature improves test accuracy. Equipped with integrated LED illumination and magnifying lens, it delivers clear observation of sample melting status. Supplied with a non-toxic, mercury-free spirit glass thermometer and open-ended capillary tubes. Powered by 230 VAC, this straightforward apparatus is ideal for routine qualitative analysis, compound identification and purity inspection in teaching labs, chemical and pharmaceutical facilities.
